Picture Software for Schools

I drive an hour to and from work each day.  It’s not a hard drive in traffic, it’s actually a nice peaceful mountain drive.  For the first time in the 3 years I have been driving to the PhotoLynx office, I hit some black ice.  Glad to report nothing, except for my heart rate increasing by about 100% happened.  But, it got me to taking those curves quite a bit slower on my way to work this morning.

On my drive to work (I wouldn’t even call it a commute), I have lots of time to think.  I often listen to Podcasts from Leo Laporte on my way to and from work, which keeps me up to date on the “tech world” and gives me a lot of ideas on things to run by our staff for the future.

But today, my mind was wandering about software that schools can use to create replacement ID cards, awards, bookmarks, and other cool products themselves.  PhotoLynx offers School Image Software (SIS), Lifetouch offers ImageStream, Herff Jones offers Image Pak, and Jostens had Image Base until they were bought out by Lifetouch.

I was wondering how many independent photographers  aren’t aware that they can compete with the “Big Boys”.   For the first time in over 20 years an independent photographer could offer the same thing as the huge national companies out there because of software like what PhotoLynx has to offer.   An independent photographer is way more nimble then the big guys too!  They are there for their customers and can change or fix things at the drop of a hat.  It’s a pretty cool time we live in.  I wish the tools PhotoLynx offers to the independent photographer were available to me years ago.   Who knows, if they were, I would be heading my own independent national photography company…..
